Restraint belt product instructions

The following instructions only apply to restraint belt products. Improper use of the product may result injury or death. The safety of patients depends on your correct use of restraint belt products. 

Use of Restraint Belt – The patient must use restraint belt only when necessary 

1. Requirements of using restraint belt

    1.1 The user shall be responsible for the use of restraint belt according to the hospital and national laws.

    1.2 Personnel using our products need to receive proper use training and product awareness.

    1.3 It is important to have legal permission and medical advice.

    1.4 The doctor needs to ensure that the patient is well enough to use the restraint belt.

2. Purpose

    2.1 Restraint belt products can only be used for medical purposes. 

3. Remove hazardous materials

    3.1 Remove all items (glass, sharp object, jewellery) accessible to the patient that may cause injury or damage to the restraint belt. 

4. Check the product before using it

    4.1 Check whether there are cracks and the metal rings falling off. Damaged products may cause injury. Do not use damaged products. 

5. The lock button and stainless pin cannot be dragged for a long time

    5.1 Good contact should be made when opening the lock pin. Each lock pin can lock three layers of belts. For thicker cloth models, you can only lock two layers. 

6. Locate the restraint belts on both sides

    6.1 Positioning side straps on both sides of the waist restraint belt in the lying position is very important. It prevents the patient from spinning and climbing over the bed bars, which can lead to entanglement or death. If the patient has used the side band and still cannot control it, other restraint schemes should be considered. 

7. Bed, chair and stretcher

    7.1 Restraint belt can only be used on fixed beds, stable chairs and stretchers.

    7.2 Ensure that the product will not shift after fixation.

    7.3 Our restraint belts may be damaged by interaction between the mechanical moving parts of the bed and chair.

    7.4 All fixed points shall not have sharp edges.

    7.5 Restraint belt cannot prevent the bed, chair and stretcher from tipping over. 

8. All bedside bars need to be raised.

    8.1 The bed rails must be raised to prevent accidents.

    8.2 Note: If additional bed rails are used, pay attention to the gap between the mattress and the bed rails to reduce the risk of patients being entangled by restraint belts. 

9. Monitor patients

    9.1 After the patient is restrained, regular monitoring is required. Violence, restless patients with respiratory and eating diseases should be closely monitored.

10. Before using, it is necessary to test the stainless pin,lock button and the bonding system

    10.1 Stainless pin, lock button, metal magnetic key, locking cap, Velcro and connecting buckles must be checked before use.

    10.2 Do not put the stainless pin, lock button into any liquid, otherwise, the lock will not work.

    10.3 If the standard magnetic key cannot be used to open the stainless pin and lock button, the spare key can be used. If it still cannot be opened, the restraint belt has to be cut.

    10.4 Check whether the top of the stainless pin is worn or rounded.

11. Pacemaker warning

    11.1 The magnetic key should be placed 20cm away from the patient’s pacemaker. Otherwise, it may cause rapid heart rate.

    11.2 If the patient uses other internal devices that may be affected by strong magnetic force, please refer to the device manufacturer’s notes. 

12. Test the correct placement and connection of products

    12.1 Check regularly that products are properly placed and connected. In the standby state, the stainless pin should not be separated from the lock button, the key is placed in a black locking cap, and the restraint belt is placed horizontally and neatly.

13. Using restraint belt products

    13.1 For the sake of safety, the product cannot be used with other third parties or modified products.

14. Use of restraint belt products on vehicles

    14.1 Restraint belt products are not intended to replace restraint belt on the vehicles. It is to ensure that patients can be saved in time in case of traffic accidents.

15. Use of restraint belt products on vehicles

    15.1 The restraint belt should be tightened, but it should not affect breathing and blood circulation, which will harm the safety of the patient. Please check the tightness and the correct position regularly.

16. Storage

    16.1 Store the products (including restraint belts, stainless pin and lock button) in a dry and dark environment at 20 ℃. 

17. Fire resistance: non flame retardant

    17.1 Note: The product is not able to block a burning cigarette or flame.

18. Suitable size

    18.1 Please choose the appropriate size. Too small or too large, will affect the comfort and safety of patient.

19. Disposal

    19.1 Packing plastic bags and cartons can be discarded in environmental recycling bins. Waste products can be disposed according with ordinary household waste disposal methods. 

20. Pay attention before using.

    20.1 Pull each other to test the lock catch and lock pin.

    20.2 Visually inspect the restraint belt and lock pin.

    20.3 Ensure adequate medical evidence.

    20.4 There is no conflict with the law.
